About the work:
My work explores the idea of an integrated Africa, the manifestations of our black race and intellectual achievement.

My creativity stems from the cultural ideology of Afrocentrism. I believe it is in my nature to transform multi- cultural diversities and express them through my craft and creativity. I am visual engineer; The Melanin in my skin matches my designs and illustration.

I’m constantly combining and coordinating separate elements of my heritage to provide a harmonious and interrelated cultural visual Identity, helping me to move towards an integrated Afro- black-creative-state with the ability to fuse Design and Culture to liberated my self conspiring with my creativity, tracing everything back to my African roots.
I am… the Melanin Expressionist.

I’m an African born designer/illustrator/photographer/art director based in Johannesburg, Alexandra. With a keen eye for detail, a strong technical ability and a boundless enthusiasm for Africa, love, life, design, illustration and photography.

My work simplistically adapts liberation heroes like Steve Biko and Madiba to current contexts of cool. I’m known for my Nubian art and African prints inspired and portraits of black faces with urban contemporary appeal. My works looks like a post-colonial coat style, and a mash up of Pan-Africanism and punk rock fused with pop art and hip-hop. My work reflects on the transitional process of South Africans and the need to create their own identity through day-to-day experiences.
