Julia Hango, better known as JuliArt, has self funded three successful solo exhibitions to kick start her provocative feminist art career in 2015 in her home country Namibia. JuliArt is one of the most promising young Namibian artists today.
JuliArt plays with various artistic techniques. Many of her digitally created photographs and paintings are surreal and thought provoking as they are layered with movement and emotion that give the artworks an exploratory three dimensional space, challenging the notions of sexuality and gender. her work utilizes the power of the camera and the naked human body as a tool to challenge society on issues of identity, bodily autonomy, mortality, race and perhaps most importantly, documenting her own life living as a nudist.
JuliArt, as part of the “So Namibia” Collective was invited to show at THAT ART FAIR 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa which was then followed by another solo show in which she documented different peoples perspectives on nudity and being naked in Namibia.
The So Namibia all woman’s collective was also invited to exhibit at the 2016 Art Photo Market in Budapest, Hungary.
